Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow creatures is amusing in itself.
—James A. Froude, English historian (1818–1894)
If you visit the killing floor of a slaughterhouse, it will brand your soul for life.
—Howard Lyman, author of Mad Cowboy
A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral.
—Leo Tolstoy, Russian novelist (1828–1910)

Rice that does not need to be cooked is cultivated
Indian scientists have managed to cultivate a special kind of rice for which is enough to be soaked in water.
In most parts of Asia, rice is the basis of nutrition to billion people, but problems often arise in the absence of conditions for food preparation. However, one species of this plant, soft Assamese Rice does not need to cook and is therefore suitable especially for the poorest strata of the population.
Researchers from the Institute for Research in rice Oris managed to grow a hybrid type of rice which is enough to soak overnight in water to become edible. What is more important, this will be able to grow rice farmers in all climatic zones of India, which should reduce the number of hungry Indians.
This is the first successful attempt of growing soft rice Asama outside the northeast, the region where a very high humidity and temperatures are still higher than in Asam.
India and beyond, despite the great economic progress in the last twenty years, there is still a third of underfed children in the world, so the researchers hope that this hybrid could become a major asset of government in the struggle against poverty and hunger.

J. S. Foer - People need to become vegetarians urgently!
Vegetarians are more environmentally friendly than people who eat meat, a massive switch to vegetarianism could improve life on Earth. These provocative thesis wrote an American writer Jonathan Safran Foer in the book "Eating Animals."
Foer is a casual vegetarian. He claims that people have started to eat meat in excessive amounts. The book appeals to the responsibility towards nature and draws attention to the negative side of human 'addiction' to meat - describing the disastrous conditions of keeping animals slaughtered at the bar and the consequences of the consumption of meat on the environment.
>> Vegetarian food is the key to long life
"We buy meat that comes from intensive farming - 99.9% of chickens, pigs 95% and 78% of livestock is growing in unnatural conditions, and farming contributes more to global warming than all the cars of the world," said Foer, who says that the average American nutrition has slaughtered about 21,000 animals.
An example of the famous actress Natalie Portman, shows that the author is very convincing in his argument, he said that she changed her eating habits after reading "Eating Animals."
