To produce 100 grams of silk, it is necessary to kill approximately 1500 silkworms to cook them alive.
Farming
Several shells are preserved in order to develop butterflies needed for reproduction. When the female lays eggs, crushed because of health checks. If it turns out that she was sick, her eggs are destroyed.
After mating, the male butterflies are closed in the basket and thrown away. Due to several generations of breeding butterflies have no longer the ability to fly and are often eaten by birds from a bucket in front of the silk farm.
The process of silk production
Silk is a fiber produced by silk worms to build shells. Silkworm is a female moth which lays 400-600 eggs of tiny light, from which hatch the little black caterpillars. they changed their skin four times in lifetime and then make a shell from which then appear re-formed butterfly. Caterpillars before they became a shell feed intensive silk leaf. For half of its life the caterpillar begins to knit its sleeve, which is the main aim of these processes.
When the cocoon is complete, preventing the formation of butterfly caterpillars so they can stifle the hot steam or direct exposure to bright sunlight sleeve. In this way, the silk thread remained unbroken, and is 300-350 meters long and can not be prestigious.
Humane alternatives
Such a cruel way of getting the silk is completely unnecessary, because it is possible to get silk from the cocoon from which the butterflies flew, and so let them live their entire life cycle. Silk would be in this case, spun, as they spin other fibers such as cotton. So, we do not need any cultivation of silkworms, because abandoned wells can be found in nature. Also, getting dropped from the cocoon of nature instead of breeding butterflies, to respect the natural balance that is environmentally and ethically acceptable. The resulting silk is called Ahimsa Peace Silk.
Humane alternatives include synthetic materials and a silky cotton.
ABOUT VEGETARIAN TIMES
The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man.
—Charles Darwin, English naturalist (1809–1882)
Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow creatures is amusing in itself.
—James A. Froude, English historian (1818–1894)
If you visit the killing floor of a slaughterhouse, it will brand your soul for life.
—Howard Lyman, author of Mad Cowboy
A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral.
—Leo Tolstoy, Russian novelist (1828–1910)

Production of wool: shearing pain
Many people believe that helps animals who would otherwise be burdened with too much wool. However, without human interference, sheep have just enough wool to protect them from temperature extremes. Fleece is a successful insulation from the cold and heat. Before the invention of hair clippers, in 1000 AD, the only way to get the wool was pulling out during the shedding season. Breeding for steady growth began after the appearance of hair clippers.
There are alternatives
There are alternatives to wool clothes and blankets that many people are allergic to wool are already using, such as cotton, flannel, polyester, and many other artificial materials. Are easily washable, does not shrink, the colors they do not fade, they are affordable and do not contribute to cruelty.

When a person freely and honestly seek the moral path, the first of which must turn to the meat ... Vegetarianism is the criterion by which we can identify whether a person's tendency towards moral perfection, honestly and seriously.
Scary is not suffering and death of animals, but that man himself suppress his highest spiritual feelings of compassion and pity towards his fellow creatures, and by running their own feelings becomes cruel.

How a man raped the sea
Cataclysmic extinction of marine life began when early man learned how to fish with primitive hooks made of animal bones. The devastation continued into the next millennia, and today the world's oceans eerie nothingness that can barely recall the times when life flourished in them.
These thoughts are not mental formations of some sort of a environmental warrior, but a serious assessment of 19 leading ecologists, which on Thursday published a scholarly article about the mass killings in the oceans in the journal Science.
Based on the study of thousands of years old fossils, notes in the past few centuries, and contemporary data, the researchers built a picture of losses since the beginning of human exploitation of the sea in search of food than 100,000 years ago. They found that even areas, which were believed to be teeming with life are now only a shadow of organic resources that existed in periods before the canoe, galeons and giant tankers.
Deadly chain reaction began, the moment when the man began to catch fish on the hook. Environmentalists have set three periods of extermination that has inspired man. The first period marked by the use of indigenous boats for fishing, etc., colonial expansion in the 15th century, a third globalized exploitation of the industrial fisheries, which reached its height in the second half of the 20th century.
To learn the state of the ocean before people started to build a primitive boat, ecologists have studied the layers of old and more than 125,000 years and archaeological data on the coastal settlements of people from 10,000 years ago, and historical evidence about fishing and colonial expansion in the last 6 centuries .
One example of the collapse of ecosystems is described in the story of an ancient type of massive algae in the northern Pacific Ocean that existed 20 million years as the vast areas of dense vegetation in the sea where wildlife flourishes. Their devastation began 2,500 years ago when the inhabitants of the Pacific streams began to hunt sea otters, which are fed with sea urchins, which in turn grazing algae. As the natives significantly reduce the number of otters, sea urchins have multiplied and become more and more destroyed by algae.
Also similar are the sad stories about the fall of oyster and coral reefs and many other marine creatures that are now or at the end or does not exist.

Greenpeace tips about nutrition
Eat foods from the bottom of the food chain - fruit and vegetable production requires far less energy than meat production.
Production of meat from land animals and fish in general is bad for the planet. Take, for example, beef. Livestock must be fed huge quantities of grain to produce the smallest amount of animal protein for human consumption. According to the Worldwatch Institute, the total amount of soybeans and grains given to cattle in the United States could feed all the people on the planet about five times.
A livestock is not only a waste of food but also the devastation of the country. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture, livestock includes as much as 30% of the Earth's surface (including pasture and arable land for growing crops for human consumption).
There is a problem association of meat consumption and climate change. Researchers from the University of Chicago, calculated that the average American who eats meat a year to prevent the release of 1.5 tons of greenhouse gases cause when they moved to the diet based on herbs.
Methane, nitrous oxide and industrial gases are important greenhouse gases. The main sources of methane derived from animal breeding, animal husbandry, and deforestation due to new areas for grazing and farming. Livestock is also a major cause of nitric oxide. Each kilogram of meat produced causes the release of greenhouse gases whose impact is equivalent to the impact of three to four kilograms of CO2.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), livestock is responsible for about 18% of total greenhouse gas emissions - due to a very high amount of energy consumed to produce fertilizer, harvesting the rainforest for grazing and growing feed for livestock, and large amounts of methane produced from cattle dung.
Nonetheless many chemicals released into the environment are stored and gradually accumulate in the fatty tissues of animals.
Choose a nutrition based on herbs!

Hunting is a massacre, not a sport
The word sport is synonymous with competition and rivalry, not a killing from ambush or stalking innocent animals. In this context, the word hunting before it can be identified with the massacre, and the act of hunting barbaric and cruel ways of 'entertainment'.
Species such as bears, wolves and white-headed vulture is brought to the very brink of extinction only by 'merit' hunters. Overfishing of the animals are exterminated rather than be protected, and many farm animals for hunters only serve as a preparation for the killing. In other words, the animals are raised in farms that were later released into the country and killed.
In the West, the growing phenomenon of eco-tourism, or 'hunting' on animal with cameras, not guns. The eco-tourism is a large potential - new jobs, a large inflow of foreign and domestic tourists, and exploring nature. Environment and approaching animals that no longer hanging from the walls as trophies but to live their lives are true and not fake. For this reason, the AFC welcome and advocate for promoting eco-tourism instead of the barbaric and inhumane hunting of innocent animals.

A vegan diet reduces the risk of arthritis, heart attack and stroke
Scientists at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, published a study in the journal Arthritis Research and Therapy showing that a vegan diet can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, as well as facilitate the disease.
Rheumatoid arthritis is considered an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Researchers studied 66 adults with rheumatoid arthritis, the average age of 50 years. 38 persons placed on a vegan diet (no foods of animal origin) in which carbohydrates provided 60% of daily calories, fat 30% and 10% protein.
28 people tested in the control group were on a diet that includes animal foods with a similar ratio of carbohydrates, fats and proteins as well as those on a vegan diet. They were encouraged to eat five or more times per day fruits and vegetables you eat complex carbs such as potatoes and whole grains instead of refined.
After a year, scientists have measured a few bio-indicators at all persons and noticed that people in the vegan group experienced a drop in body mass index, total cholesterol and LDL ('bad') cholesterol. Levels of triglycerides and HLD ("good") cholesterol remained unchanged. It happened, and increasing levels of 'antiPC' antibodies, which are believed to help protect the body from cardiovascular disease.
These findings are compatible with previous test results of persons on vegetarian / vegan diet, which showed decreases in blood pressure, lower BMI and lower risk of cardiovascular disease, said the scientists.
Around 20 million people worldwide suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. High levels of LDL and total cholesterol, and high body mass index are risk factors for heart attack and stroke.
Research indicates that a vegan diet directly affects the maintenance of good health.
