utorak, 9. veljače 2010.

People who reject all the food from animal products may have difficulty in meeting their daily needs for protein, zinc and iron. Meat and meat products "convenient" source of these nutrients, a diet that excludes these provisions requires a little more planning. Therefore, proper planning here is of great importance, especially with vegan diet. But if it is properly balanced, vegan diet can provide all the necessary nutrients except vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12

Poorly planned vegetarian diet can result in a deficit of vitamin B12, since vitamin B12 is found only in products of animal origin.
Furthermore, infants whose mothers were not for a long time food (or supplements) brought vitamin B12, have lower levels of blood vitamins and they get less vitamin B12 with milk.
Vegans, therefore, must compensate for this vitamin with food enriched with vitamin B12 or by taking vitamin B12 supplements.
In order to facilitate the plan of vegetarian diet, there formed pyramids of proper diet for vegetarians and vegans. It is important to note not to miss any meal and the food that is consumed must be diverse.
