According to a Swedish study in which participated over 50,000 women, people on vegetarian diets have lower risk of obesity than people who eat meat (omnivores).
The research results indicate that the replacement of meat and meat products, vegetables, or vegetable option, may help in maintaining body weight. Specifically, women who are vegetarians are 2 / 3 less likely to be obese than women who eat meat.
He also noted that the group of women who eat meat, 40% were obese, while among the vegetarian was "only" 25% fat.
